Basic Genetics

Overview

The advancement in genetic studies has made it possible to identify and diagnose some major diseases and disorders at the fetal stage. Some of the commonly seen problems are rooted in gene study and with the right investigation can be identified and diagnosed at the prenatal stage.

The lecture demonstrates examples of genetic syndromes that can be identified in the prenatal stage and corrected or diagnosed accordingly, and the scenarios associated with such disorders. It goes on to talk about actual tests and how to read the results for diagnosis with special emphasis on Cytogenetics and FISH studies. It covers a detailed analysis of skeletal dysplasias, various scenarios associated with it, both lethal and non-lethal and the prenatal diagnosis, NIPT involved.

The class also covers several aspects of genetic disorders in relation to fetal scanning and care, causes and risk factors, investigation, identification and possible diagnosis demonstrated through case discussions.

This training includes nine video lectures of one-hour duration each. Once you enroll for this training, you will have 3 months to watch the lectures as many times as you like.
